§ 8-1. Purpose.

For the maintenance of a homeland security and emergency preparedness agency, the parish council enacts the following in compliance with the following state and federal laws:

Acts 1993, No. 800, June 22, 1993; amended by Acts 2003, No. 40, May 23, 2003; Acts 2006, 1st Ex. Sess., No. 35, March 1, 2006; Acts 2006, No. 442, June 15, 2006.

Federal Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (SARA Title III). Hazardous Material, Information, Development, Preparedness, and Response Act (R.S. 30:2361). Underground Utilities and Facilities (R.S. 40:1749), CFR Part 335.

Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, this emergency management agency shall have jurisdiction over and serves the entire parish, including municipalities and incorporated areas.
