§ 17-1. Ascension Parish Planning and Zoning Commission—Created.

  • There is hereby created the Ascension Parish Planning and Zoning Commission, said commission to be vested with all the responsibilities delineated in Louisiana Revised Statutes, section 33:101 et seq., and the responsibilities delineated in Louisiana Revised Statutes, 33:4780.40.

    The Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the Ascension Parish Council. Terms of the members shall be as follows: Three (3) members shall serve an initial one-year term, and four (4) members shall serve an initial term of two (2) years. Thereafter, each member shall serve a two-year term.

    Editor's note— It should be noted that an ordinance adopted Aug. 15, 1996, provided in its preamble that:

    Where a parish has adopted a home rule charter, it may avail itself of the power and authority which Louisiana Revised Statutes, Section 33:103, grants to a planning commission.
