§ 17-3.1. Composition of board.

(a)

(1)

The planning and zoning commission hereby formed will constitute one (1) board and will perform both functions of planning as outlined in La. R.S. 33:101 et seq., and the functions of the zoning commission as set forth in La. R.S. 33:4780.45.

(2)

The parish council hereby appointed the same members of the existing planning commission to serve on the joint board with the terms of each member to be and to continue as set forth in the appointments made by the parish council on October 16, 1997.

(3)

The terms of service of commissioners, shall be four (4) years.

(b)

To remediate the terms of commissioners appointed not in compliance with the prior ordinance and to carry out the legislative intent of staggered terms for commissioners, the following shall apply: For the commissioners appointed for four-year terms in lieu of six-year terms, and by ordinance whose terms expired on October 15, 2007; any reappointed or replacement commissioner shall be appointed for a term in compliance with this section. For commissioners appointed for six-year terms in compliance with the ordinance, said six-year terms shall end on October 15, 2009, and therefore all subsequent terms in compliance with this section. For Commissioners improperly appointed to eight-year terms in lieu of six-year terms, said terms shall terminate October 15, 2010, and all subsequent appointments shall be in compliance with the term length set by ordinance.
